You do not have to be a strict vegetarian to lose weight. According to researchers approximately 60% of Americans have weight problems. This has resulted to a lot of Americans of both sexes resorting to all kinds of weight lose programs. The use of diet pills is the most popular method of reducing weight because it is the easiest. Weight loss pills are readily available in all drug stores. Most people, however, do not take time to know more about the pills they are taking and run the risk of suffering from possible side-effects.
Most overweight people are inclined to favor quick fix solutions to their condition. This tendency has helped create a booming diet pills industry overnight. Although many of these pills are regulated by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), there is always the danger of misuse, especially when people are taking herbal diet pills. Herbal diet pills are supposed to be "all natural". It is understandable for the FDA to exercise less regulation over them. Unknown to many, however, herbal pills like synthetic diet pills are known to have side-effects. Some of the side-effects of these pills are gas pain, diarrhea, and increased heart rate because of the appetite suppressants that they contain. It is always best to consult a doctor before taking any diet pills, natural or not. A vegetarian diet is probably the most effective weight loss program. Unfortunately, it is the most difficult to follow. Americans are natural meat eaters and it takes effort and a strong will to become a vegetarian. Nevertheless, the benefits of a vegetarian diet are many. Vegetables contain Phytosterols which effectively reduces body absorption of cholesterol and fat that come primarily from eating too much red meat, whole milk cheese, and fried foods. In addition, Phytosterols are medically proven to be helpful in holding off the onset of aging signs. The good news for people who do not possess the will to become a strict vegetarian is that they do not have to be one in order to lose weight. A recent medical research concludes that eating more vegetables and fruits effectively offsets the negative effects of eating cholesterol rich foods. This means that as long as people have enough doses of Phytosterols in their diet, the cholesterols in their bodies will drop. Despite a diet featuring lots of vegetables and fruits, people may not be getting sufficient phytosterols to counter cholesterol intake. Some supplements are obviously necessary. This will include fiber rich supplementary foods like oats and breakfast cereals. Medical experts have found that fiber, especially those found in oats, limits the absorption of cholesterol in the stomach. Getting enough phytosterols and fiber seems to be the best way to shed extra poundage from the body. There are no side-effects to think of and more importantly people can still indulge in their favorite foods that may contain cholesterol although in a much reduced rate. For most weight loss consultants, however, even those recommending a strict vegetarian diet, this is not enough. Regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle is always a part of a successful weight loss program. |
